ROOFTOP POTTERY
I started Rooftop Pottery in 1997 in Burlington, Vermont in an upstairs storage loft of an Artist Cooperative. The loft has a great view of the roof of the building.
I love making pots and am so glad it is how I make my living. It is a great feeling to create forms out of masses of clay into pieces that will be used for every day and special events. Handmade pottery seems to make everyday items into special items. Coffee mugs, plates and bowls all seem to stop being ordinary when you know someone (not something) made it.

The process of making pottery is simple and direct, yet it has taken me years to learn how to make this stoneware and I hope I have many years left to explore and to learn more.
Most of my pottery is hand thrown on the Potter’s wheel. Glazing the pottery by pouring, plunging, splashing and painting on the Bisque-ware is like putting a puzzle of liquid light together on the pots.
My pottery is designed to be functional and to bring pleasure to those who use it. Pottery, like a hot cup of tea, is one of those items in your house that you have on a daily basis for yourself and for sharing with others. It is my hope you will find a future dinner set for your table and other wonderful gifts for friends and families as you celebrate life’s special times.
Cheers,
Harold
CUSTOM MADE SINKS
I make these bathroom sinks from mid fire stoneware clay. The glazes are safe to have in the household and easy to clean. The sinks are strong and durable. They are custom made to order -- your color choice is only limited by the palette of my glazes. For more information, check out the sinks section.
Shown here in velvet blue.
