THE BASICS
Couples or individuals register with me in person -- that way I can make sure that I have the capacity to fulfill their order. I set up an account that allows them to build a wish list of pottery. These go into their registry. The sizes, colors, styles are all decided by the couple.
The couple or individual communicates my web site address to their friends and relatives. They can visit the site, view the list, and pick out some pottery as a gift.
PURCHASING/SHOPPING CART
I use paypal for purchases. You do not need a paypal account to purchase -- you can use your credit card with them. If you have a paypal account, you can log into it and pay that way.
Paypal has a proven record of safety. After much research, I decided that they were the best option for me. Your credit card/payment information is never shared with me -- just shipping information and pottery choices.
The Rooftop Shopping cart uses javascript to update information in your cart. If you find that you are unable to update the quantities and/or remove items in your cart, you will need to enable javascript. I included some directions to help with this.
SHIPPING
OK... pottery is heavy and somewhat fragile. This means a fair amount of packaging and weight -- both of which add up to relatively expensive shipping.
If the items are destined for a local address, I'll deliver them myself to save shipping costs. I charge a flat $60 fee to pack the order -- it takes a surprising amount of time and materials to pack safely. I am willing to deliver up to 100 miles from my studio in Burlington. We can also arrange for pick up at my studio, the Burlington Farmers' Market, or the Stowe Farmers' Market.
Regardless of the method of delivery, the shipping charges are worked out at the time the registry is created. I add a percentage fee to each gift added to the registry. The cost is a lot more reasonable split like this.
For example, if a couple registers for an 8 person table setting, that's 32 pieces. Shipping a set like all together that might cost something like $100. Shipping 8 individual place settings might cost $25 per setting -- or $200 total. Instead of charging each person who gets them a piece of that gift an individual shipping charge, I'll divide the cost among the pieces as a percentage of the price and that on to your order.
You don't have to worry about entering a shipping address on PayPal. The order will be delivered to the address specified at the time the registry is set up.
GIFT WRAP
As of now, I don't offer gift wrapping. I'm not very good at it and I am a one-man shop.
PERSONAL MESSAGE
If you would like a personal message added to your gift... well that's no problem. When you check out, use the "Add Special Instructions To Merchant" link. Write your message in there and I will put it on a card in the box with the pottery.
LOGGING IN TO YOUR REGISTRYOnce I have created a registry account for you, registrants can log in to their registry with the log in information provided to them in the welcome e-mail. If you are having any problems logging in, please e-mail me and I will get things cleared up for you.

REGISTERING WITH ROOFTOP!
So, you've looked around the site a bit and are interested in creating a gift registry with me. Great! I know I am biased, but I really believe that there is nothing like handmade pottery as a future heirloom.
The best thing to do is to visit me at one of my markets -- you can meet me and see the pottery in person. If you can't make it to one of the markets, give me a call or send me an e-mail.
I am a one-man shop, so I need to get an idea of the scope of your wish list. Basically, I need to make sure I will be able to create all the pieces you want in the timeline allotted. Once we get the basics covered, I will set you up with a log-on for the site. You can use this to create your pottery gift registry.
If you are getting married or live in or near Burlington, I am willing to deliver the pottery to a pre-arranged spot. Pottery can be expensive to ship, this way, your guests won't have to pay for shipping. We will set that up when we set up your registry.
If this all sounds good to you, drop by the market or contact me.
